Template:

We are currently experiencing [brief description of the issue].
Impact: [Which features are affected].
We are [what is being done to fix it].
Estimated recovery time: [if known].

Next update: [time]

If you have urgent questions, please contact [contact info].

Principles:

  • Be honest and transparent (don't hide things)
  • Provide regular updates (even if there's no new info, let users know you're still working on it)
  • Don't shift blame ("Due to a third-party service issue" is not a good way to start)
