Format: Evaluate your product's natural spreading ability.

Formula:

Viral Coefficient K = Number of invites per user Γ— Invite conversion rate

K < 1: Each user brings less than 1 new user (requires ongoing acquisition)
K = 1: Each user brings 1 new user (natural growth)
K > 1: Exponential growth (viral spread)

Exercise: Analyze the viral spreading mechanisms of the following products:

  1. Dropbox (invite friends for extra storage)
  2. Notion (team collaboration naturally invites others)
  3. Your own product (does it have any natural spreading mechanisms?)
